Opened in 1957, our Noranda Alumina plant in Gramercy, Louisiana, is a refinery that remains an industry leader and one of two USA-based alumina plants operating.
At the Gramercy site, we use a sustainable, continuous loop process of mixing, digestion, clarification, precipitation, and calcination to produce more than 1 million metric tons per year of wet cake, dry hydrate, and smelter grade alumina.
At every step of these processes, the Safety of our workforce and the Quality of our products are top priorities. Noranda Alumina employees are part of a proud team whose work makes an everyday impact on the world.
These are used for a variety of specialized products and as an intermediate step in the production of aluminum, and they serve the chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, coatings, and pigments industries on a global scale.
