Chemical grade alumina (CGA) is a versatile product is used in detergents, flame retardants, adhesives, paints, and more. Chemical grade alumina comes in two forms: wet cake and dry hydrate.

Wet cake (WH-30) is a high purity alumina trihydrate produced by the Bayer process. It has the consistency of damp beach sand. Common uses include water treatment chemicals, catalysts for the oil and gas and other refining industries, deodorants, antacids, toothpastes and cosmetics.

Dry hydrate (H-30) is a high purity alumina trihydrate produced by the Bayer process. It is a dry free flowing coarse powder. Noranda Alumina’s unique crystallization process produces a product recognized throughout the industry as one of the most desirable raw materials for grinding. This same process imparts properties that lead to rapid dissolution in strong acid or strong bases. Common uses: detergents, flame retardants, adhesives, paints.
